ME PhD. Student wins Student Paper Prize Competition at 2011 National Conference and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering

Mr. Wael Elwali

Mr. Wael Elwali, ME PhD student, won one of the Student Paper Prize Competition Awards along with $1000 at the 2011 National Conference and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering (Noise-Con 2011) that was held in Portland, Oregon from July 25-27.

The competition is judged based on the quality of the written paper as well as the oral presentation.  His winning paper is entitled, “Effect of Beam Boundary Condition on Sound Radiation inside a Planar Acoustic Cavity,” which was also co-authored by Professor Teik C Lim and Dr. Mingfeng Li of Mechanical Engineering, School of Dynamic Systems.

The research described in the paper is based on Mr. Elwali’s dissertation work and is a result of the 2010 graduate summer fellowship provided by the University of Cincinnati.
