New Scholarship Available for Engineering Students

University of Cincinnati College of Engineering students looking for financial support will have a new option, thanks to a $500,000 gift to the engineering scholarship fund.
The gift, from Belcan Corporation, will establish the Ralph G. Anderson Scholarship in Engineering.  Open to third-year students in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, the Anderson Scholarship provides the cost of tuition, room & board and books. Awards will be considered for renewal for the students’ fourth and fifth years of study.
“We’re extremely grateful to Belcan for this generous gift that truly signifies Mr. Anderson’s commitment to UC Engineering and the value he places on the experiential learning through our coop-based curricula. With this scholarship, it will no doubt make an immense difference in the engineering education of the fortunate recipients of this scholarship,” said Professor Teik C. Lim, Head of Mechanical Engineering.
To apply for the scholarship, interested students must complete a scholarship application form and an essay entitled, “What Does Being an Engineer Mean to Me.”  Finalists will be chosen based on the essay, aptitude, and interest in an engineering career.  Announcement of the selected recipients will be made prior to Autumn 2008 quarter.
