Recent MINE PhD graduate nominated for Burroughs Wellcome Career Award

Dr. YeoHeung Yun , a recent Ph. D. graduate, has been nominated for the Burroughs Wellcome Career Award.  The Burroughs Wellcome Fund is an independent private foundation dedicated to advancing the medical sciences by supporting research and other scientific and educational activites.

Working in conjunction with Dr. Laura Conforti in the College of Medicine, Dr. Yun is developing a biophotolithographic tecnique to study the immunological syapse in T-cells and is preparing a proposal entitled, An Integrated Systems Biology Approach for Study of the T-Cell Activation Mechanism.

Dr. Yun received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineeering in August 2006 and is currently working in the Smart Materials Nanotechnology Laboratory as a post-doctoral scholar. The Smart Materials Nanotechnology Laboratory is an interdisciplinary research and teaching laboratory in the college of engineering. Dr. Yun was co-advised by Dr. Mark Schulz in Mechanical Engineering and  Dr. Vesselin Shanov in Chemical and Materials Engineering.
