UC ME Student Wins Student Paper Prize Competition at the 2008 National Conference and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering

Mr. Brent Rudd, ME PhD student, won one of the Student Paper Prize Competition Awards along with $1000 at the 2008 National Conference and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering (Noise-Con 2008) that was held in Dearborn, Michigan from July 28-30.  The competition is judged based on the quality of the written paper as well as the oral presentation.  His winning paper is entitled, “Evaluation of MRI Compatible Headphones for Active Noise Cancellation,” which was also co-authored by Professor Teik C. Lim of Mechanical Engineering and Professor Jing-Huei Lee of Biomedical Engineering/Center for Imaging Research.  The research described in the paper is based on Mr. Rudd’s dissertation work and is funded by the National Institutes of Health
