Pilot Research Project Symposium

On October 8-9, 2015, the OSHE program of the ERC hosted the 16th Annual Pilot Research Project (PRP) Symposium. The PRP Symposium was held at the Engineering Resource Center (ERC) in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) on the University of Cincinnati’s uptown campus. A focus of the PRP is to assist the development of a new generation of researchers.

James Thompson, PhD, PE who is Chief of the Hearing Loss Prevention Branch at NIOSH delivered the keynote address. The topic of the address was “Noise Control of Large Mining Machines”.

The symposium featured podium and poster research presentations from PRP grant award winners on a variety of occupational health and safety topics. The podium presentations were followed with discussion session on the presentation topics. There were 12 academic institutions participating the PRP.

Receptions at the outset and conclusion of the symposium offered attendees the opportunity for networking. Attendance at the symposium also provided continuing education credits.
