 Director

 

dr. murali sundaram Dr. Murali Sundaram is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Cincinnati. He has ten years of industrial experience in precision manufacturing and three years of postdoctoral research experience in micro and nano manufacturing. Dr. Sundaram is a recipient of a Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation. His research interests include Additive Manufacturing, Nano-Manufacturing, Nontraditional Machining, Micromachining, Hybrid Machining, CAD/CAM, Metrology and Process Simulation. Dr. Sundaram is advising/ has co-advised over 25 graduate students (including 6 Ph.D. students) and several undergraduate students. He has authored five book chapters and over 70 refereed publications. Dr. Sundaram serves as Associate Editor of SME's Journal of Manufacturing Processes, and is an International Editorial Review Board member of International Journal of Manufacturing, Materials and Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Sundaram is a member of ASME and SME.


Graduate Students (Ph.D)  

 

abishek balsamy kamarajAbishek Balsamy Kamaraj is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of  Cincinnati. He received his Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati in October 2012, and Bachelor’s degree  in Mechanical Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India in September 2010. His  research focuses on electrochemical additive manufacturing. He was employed by Larsen and Toubro (India) as an  Engineering Trainee before he joined the University of Cincinnati. He is a member of the American Society for  Mechanical Engineers (ASME) since 2008. Apart from his research, he is actively associated with the Graduate Student Government and Indian Students Association at the University of Cincinnati. 

 

Anne Brant is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. She  received her Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. She has previously worked as a co-op at Duke  Energy, L'Oreal, and L-3 Communications. Outside of engineering, she plays banjo, guitar, and tabla with fellow  musicians, and has been involved with the UC Women's rugby team.

 

 

 

Vamshi Krishna Kore is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. He completed his Bachelor of Technology from Vardhaman College of Engineering, JNTU, Hyderabad (India). He has worked at BHEL, Hyderabad for an academic project before joining University of Cincinnati. His field of research is Additive Manufacturing. Outside of engineering, he is passionate cricketer and has represented high school and university cricket teams. 

 

 

 


Graduate Students (M.S)

Arham Ali is currently pursuing Master's in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. He completed his Bachelor of Technology from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad (India). He worked as Junior Field Engineer at Halliburton Logging Services(HLS Asia Ltd.) in oil and gas exploration and as an Intellectual Property Researcher at CPA Global. His field of research is micro Laser Beam Machining. Outside of engineering, he is a badminton player and a long distance runner.

 

 

himanshu Himanshu Ingale is currently pursuing his Master's in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. He received his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering and Technology Jalgaon, India in May 2010. His research focuses on Nano-manufacturing. Before joining University of Cincinnati, he worked for Patson Machines, Pune, India as Trainee engineer in the quality control department.

 

 

 

linkedin.jpg Ketaki Rajendra Kolhekar is currently pursuing Master’s in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. She completed her Bachelor of Engineering from Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune, India (2013). She worked as Graduate Engineer Trainee in Tata technologies Pvt. Ltd before coming to University of Cincinnati. She has internship experience in turbo Gears Pvt. Ltd during her undergraduate studies. Her field of research is micro electrochemical discharge machining. Outside of engineering, she likes reading and sketching.

 

  


Undergraduate Students

Amy Drexelius is a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of Cincinnati pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering; she hopes to eventually pursue a graduate degree as a mechanical engineer as well. She has experience in precision manufacturing from her co-op at Dayton Reliable Tool. Outside of work and school she enjoys drawing, reading, and practicing the German language.

He is in ASCEND program and has some experience in industrial manufacturing from his previous coop. He is a member of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society since 2016. He enjoys playing soccer, table tennis, guitar, and watching movies.

 

 

 

Nick Kelly is a third year undergraduate student, studying mechanical engineering at the University of Cincinnati. His experience includes co-op work in the machine tool industry at Makino and in the aerospace industry at StandardAero.

Narek Manukyan is an undergraduate at the University of Cincinnati, and is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, alongside a minor in English with a focus on Creative Writing (Poetry). He has been at the UCMAN laboratory for three co-op terms, as well as during the two study semesters in-between them. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys, in no particular order, writing, meditation, playing guitar and ukulele, traveling, exploring mother nature, reading, and photography.

Hirdayesh B. Shrestha is a third year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Cincinnati and is also in the university honors program. He has experience in industrial parts cleaning from his two co-op terms at Cleaning Technologies Group. His hobbies include playing and watching soccer, playing the guitar, Smash Bros. Melee, and rowing.

Emily Speck is a second year in the Mechanical Engineering program. She has experience in 3D design from her past co-op at Hahn Automation. In her free time she enjoys reading, playing board games, and swing dancing.

Kaitlyn Woods is a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of Cincinnati, in her thrid year of studying Mechanical Engineering. She is also working towards a Computer Science minor. Her career goals include working on robotics in manufacturing. She has two terms of co-op experience at Deceuninck North America.
